Following the observation that most people in the areas of operation could not access basic health care and that the Support group health beneficiaries were defaulting on their ARV medication due to lack of financial resources to go to the clinic or to the hospital, Sabona decided that a doctor should be engaged so that they visit Mabale clinic once every month. The initiative was meant to alleviate the challenge of the community traveling long distances to St Luke’s in Lupane, St Patricks in Hwange or Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo.

As of May 2019, Dr Muronzi based at St Patricks hospital in Hwange has been contracted by Sabona to visit Mabale and Lupote clinics on a monthly basis. Hence, Sabona Trust provides medicine to these clinics, but the number of patients in need of medication continues to overwhelm the clinics. There is a massive need at the clinics for medication to ensure that medication is dispensed to those in need when they visit the clinics.

Women no longer choose homebirths. This is an amazing achievement in which Sabona has played a critical role.
